Sri Swamiji's speech in Trinidad Ashrama 10th August 2000

"If you go to Maha Bharata, there are so many subjects. On politics, economics, administration, Yoga, Sanyasa Yoga. Yoga, Bhoga, Thyaga, Raga, Viraga, all these subjects are covered in it. This knowledge is hidden behind the story of the cousins, Kauravas and Pandavas. Study the Maha Bharata in Vedanta way. It is a message for the world. It applies to all religions. You must give training to your children to study such books. You sit on a sofa watching television and worry that your children are not religious or spiritual. What a satire."

Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Omkara Center, Frewsburg, New York, 1986

"Some Indian temples are so far away in the hills. Our mind is always using some sort of karma. You want to throw away that karma. The temples are far away; not in the city. We will automatically get peace and energy. Some Indian temples are in big hill stations. There are no facilities for cars and no roadways. We must walk up by steps for two miles or three miles. Automatically, our body becomes very tired. 'Oh, my God'. That's the sound that comes. 'I'm very tired, Oh, my God!' Just like this, the devotion automatically comes. It's a penance."

From Pujya Sri Swamiji

"He who chooses the beginning of a road chooses the place it leads to. It is the means that determine the end. Seek Sachchidananda to choose the right path."

Sri Swamiji from Bhakti Mala, Dec 2008

"Dharma does not mean Hinduism or Christianity. People can have any devotion they want. Dharma means good human activities, control of sense organs and the path to self-inquiry leading to self-realization. Dharma means perfection. Dharma also means understanding your real self."

Discourse on 2nd July 2009 frisco texas "Atma Jnana is the permanent solution to all Problems"

Don’t take the problems to your mind. If you put the problems on to your mind they will burn you up. Instead put the problems on the Atman. The Atman in turn will burn your problems. Atman is capable of handling any problem where as the mind and sense organs are not. You are often contemplating on the problems. Such contemplation attaches us to the senses, sensory organs and the mind. This enables the problems to gain access to the mind. Once they gain access to the mind they gradually eat away your mind. This causes pain and suffering. This is not the solution to the problem also. Instead if you address the problems to the Atman, the problems by themselves will be burnt away, as they cannot gain access to the Atman. In other words detaching oneself from the pains and pleasures of the senses and sensory organs and contemplating on the true self is Atma Jnana. This should be the aim and goal of everyone. This is also the solution to every problem. The question is “How to address our problems to the Atman?” For this we have to know about the Atman. One must spend at least some time everyday trying to know the true nature of self (Atma Tatva). Sadguru guides the disciple in this path of Atma Jnana through a number of methods suited to our mental makeup.

Discourse on 2nd July 2009 frisco texas "Discard the Garbage to attain Joy"

Jaya Guru Datta
In this country (USA), we have many settlements and places with names New York, New England, New Hampshire, Little Rock, Little England etc. If so, why cannot we have little India here at this Ashrama?? Culture and Tradition are basis of our healthy existence. Dharma in the form of morality should be the back bone of our existence.

We are following many examples for enjoyment. But, it is high time to choose our model characters, for us to follow. Lord Rama, Hanuman and similar role models should inspire us in our life. We think of Frustration, despair quite often and even worry death. What is the need of it? As long we live, let us live a life of happiness and joy which is possible thru contentment only. Cause of all our worries is the garbage accumulation in our mind. Discard the garbage! You will be happy again. It is easier said than done. How to discard the long accumulated Garbage! It is not an easy job. Here is why you are. You are here with Sadguru, who will help you discard the rot in mind.

The annual cleansing program is what Guru Poornima signifies. Inspired by our Masters thru generations, we are carrying out the job. The tradition has amply demonstrated the importance of this annual conditioning camp of revering one’s own Guru, to discard despair and lust. With the conviction that he Guru is the saviour of mankind, we should carry out the instructions without fail. That is the key to happiness!

We pray that Datta blesses all of you find that key to happiness!

Discourse on 1st June 2009 Speech at Sri Rama Mandir, Plano, Texas

Jaya Guru Datta! It is heartening that we all are here at this sacred place. We all spend time in routine jobs. Some times, we develop minor and major doubts, about the happenings of life and even the purpose of it. Even Lord Rama was also not an exception. Being a prince, he was trained in Shaastra (Scripures) and Shastra (Weaponry). After graduation from the Guru Kula, he looked very dull and seemed to be lost in a whirlpool of thoughts. At this juncture, Sage Vasishtha (Kula Guru) discussed the issue of permanence, impermanence, penance, achievement and other fundamental issues. The discussion is recorded as Yoga Vaasishtham.

This is also called Gnaana Vaasishtham, as Sage has elaborately discussed the issues of practice, principles of Wisdom. We should at least read this text, every day or every week. In addition, Adhyaatma Ramayana is another text to be studied. We can look at Ramayana from several perspectives. 1. A beautiful Story 2. Morality Angle 3. Finesse of Righteousness 4. Philosophical Aspect.

The Fourth Vista is evident in Adhyaatma Ramayana. (This text details the feeling of Lord Rama, analysing each of the forthcoming events and depicts the philosophical personality of Lord Rama, different than the popular valiant Hero.)

It is good that you all are reading Tulasi Das – composed Rama Charita Maanasa. Each Doha (Couplet) has significance. Try to understand it and your life will improve a lot.

It is not mere coincidence but divine will that we are here before the Hanuman Temple inauguration. God wanted us to visit Rama before consecrating Hanuman.

All are welcome to participate in the programs of Hanuman Cultural Centre.

12th Anniversary of Datta Temple and Hall of Trinity, Baton Roug, LA

Swamiji plans to perform Homa (fire worship) to distribute the energy of the Mantra through out the globe at several places including Badri, Haridwar, Kashi, Delhi, Surat, Mekedatu, Mysore, Germany, Malaysia, USA and several other places. Many people think Yagya is fire worship. Swamiji’s method is different. It includes Nama Yagya (chanting names of God), Sankeertana Yagya (Singing Glory of God), Archana Yagya (Worship of God), Jnana Yagya (Divine discourses dispensing knowledge) and several others apart from the common fire ritual. Atman is like the fire pit or Homakunda. With every inhalation and exhalation we are chanting Soham. Concentrating on this sound draws you closer to the Atman. All the above mentioned practices are processes to train the Indriyas. It is a method to energize your heart and mind. Like a satellite that draws energy from the sun for its movement these practices enable one to rejuvenate or replenish their energy reserves. This is a wonderful phenomenon. We have such a tremendous potential in our body to regenerate such a great energy. Unfortunately we are misusing and abusing our body with lust, anger, hunger, sleep and vices. The body is bound to disappear one day. It will merge with the five elements. Make proper use of it as long as it is there. Protect it. Collect as much positive energy as possible. Grab the energy that Sadguru is dissipating for you. Look at His feet, face, body. His Darshan is energizing. Do not visualize Him as a mere human because he apparently seems to eats, walks, talks and behaves like you. Guru Gita proclaims that one who visualizes Sadguru as an ordinary human is a great sinner beyond doubt. He is divinity in physical form. You are lucky because He is your friend and family member. You find in Rama’s incarnation that He cried for Sita His consort. He was incarnation of Vishnu, He knew everything, yet He behaved as a human reacting to all emotions. He addressed Himself as son of Dasaratha and not as an incarnation of Vishnu. He (Rama), the Paramatman went in search of Sita, (Jeevatma) enquiring every tree, every stone, every river and every one who came by, the where about of Sita. There were so many people ready to marry Rama, but Rama is always calling Sita! That is the bondage of the Paramatma with the Jeevatma. The forest means body – it has many a hindrance. It is dense, dark and deep. The 72000 Nadis including Ida (Moon), Pingala (Surya) and Sushumna (Brahma) Nadis are the trees, billions of cells of many types. Each cell is vibrating for Sita. Rama gave respect to the body. Hanumanta who is like Prana is like the bridge. Anjaneya is like the bridge from Jeevatma to Paramatma. Despite being incarnate of Lord Vishnu Rama acted like a human. It was his self imposed restriction. Similarly we often think Swamiji is like any of us out of ignorance failing to realize His divine dimension. One must learn to see the divinity in Sadguru. As long as you live visualize your Guru as divine. He will help you to attain Ananda through your Prana. With the help of Prana you must help meeting of the Jeevatma with the Paramatma just like Hanumanta helped in the Union of Sita and Rama (Jeevatma and Paramatma). Guru is always Nitya Nootana (New everyday). His grace is always new and vibrant. We must thank Him for this union. That’s why in Bible it is mentioned as “Remember Me”! You have a lot of experience with Sadguru. Contemplate on those pleasant experiences. Make them unforgettable. They are life time experiences, never to be forgotten. He is Parabrahman. Invite Him to your heart, not to your home. Rara maa inti daaka (Come up to my house O Rama) sang saint Tyagaraja but Swamiji’s mission is Intitiki tirigi tirigi hitamu panchu padamu (distribute goodness by going from door to door. We often invoke and invite the Lord to our heart with a special Mudra (gesture) – chanting Avahayami. It is a request to the Lord to stay in the heart. You must conserve your energy for this invitation. Keep your heart clean and fit for the Sadguru to reside. Keep your Guru in the highest esteem. Don’t talk garbage. Save your energy. Use your Sadguru properly.

Swami Lakshmi Narayan Temple, Youngstown, Ohio 21st July 2009

Jaya Guru Datta is the common greeting that we use when we meet each other. Many new comers are worried and not sure what it means. It is a wonderful greeting which has a deep inner meaning. ‘Jaya’ means Victory, ‘Guru’ represents knowledge; Datta’ means a gift, sacrifice, self surrender. Sacrifice does not mean killing animals, it implies self less service. It implies work is worship. It means surrendering to Paramatman who is Nirvikara (Unwavering). This surrender is possible only through commitment. This is the state of bliss (Ananda). Instead of saying HELLO (which reverberates and rhymes with HELL – a place where no one would like to be) one must put in the habit of addressing and greeting each other with the phrase Jaya Guru Datta which radiates victory, knowledge and bliss. It is very simple to attain God, as simple as we breathe and also as important as our breath. The sound of the breath SOHAM is the silent prayer of the soul to attain communion with the Supreme Lord. Our mind is inherently very fickle in its nature. It is like a Monkey. We have designed several methods to control this fickle mind. We worship Lord Hanuman; we respect the five elements; we respect Nature; we respect plants and animals. All these methods have been established to tame the erratic mind. This has nothing to do with any religion. It is Universal Dharma (code of conduct). It is about all religions.

The body is itself a moving temple. Each part is contemplated upon as a location of spiritual centre and a deity. Twenty four names of Lord Vishnu are related to 24 areas in the body from head to toe or vice versa. Therefore one must respect the body and make proper use of this body to attain salvation. However, people cause lot of damage by smoking, alcohol and in many other ways which is alarming. The body is constituted of the five elements and worship of five elements is way of expressing the gratitude. There is a schedule to offer three time prayers. Hanuman is the representative of air element. Without air, water, earth, fire and sky, there is no life. We also respect Sun without whom life is impossible. Bliss is the final goal of all these practices. We often describe divinity as all pervading and infinite and so every object that we see around and that we cannot see around are all sources for divine inspiration. That is why the thousand names of the Lord have names relating to objects also. Today is solar eclipse. Pray to the sun, do not get panic about the rumors. Lord Almighty will take care of the Catastrophe if any. God is just one; only the names are different. Bhagavatam and Bhagavadgita speak about Vishwaroopa (cosmic all pervading form of the divine). We also manifest in that divinity. In fact it is that divine energy that is driving us. The aspect of creativity of the mind, the thought generation, quest for knowledge, is the Brahma entity within us. The aspect of sustenance of the body, mind and soul is Vishnu. Shiva is Nirguna and Nirakara (formless) deity, remover of sin and bestows auspiciousness. Vishnu principle likes adornment while Shiva is the dispeller of sins, he loves ablutions. Just like the milk from any cow is white, flowers are many but garland is same similarly despite having different cultures God is one and the same.

Pujya Sri Swamiji, from Bhakti Mala, Sep 2008

"Most people have heard of Rishis (seers) and their Tapas (penance). What they do not know is, the real meaning of Tapas. Many people think that sitting in a forest and doing Japa (uttering mantra) with an unshaven beard, closed eyes and controlled breath constitutes Tapas. No, this is not real Tapas. Whatever is done to help others with unselfish attitude, balanced mind and dedicated spirit is real Tapas. Such actions, whether in the spiritual field, business and trade, or agriculture are all different forms of Tapas!"

PUJYA SRI SWAMIJI'S SPEECH, Chicago, July 25, 2002

"First you control and kill ego. Ignore and kill that ego. Teach your Buddhi a lesson and punish your sense organs. Then they will come under control. In the beginning you need a Guru. Once you learn driving, you have to drive the car by yourself. You have to drive your Buddhi. This body is a chariot. Lord Krishna is the driver in the beginning. See the Bhagavad Gita photo. Krishna is the driver and Arjuna the passenger is asking many questions and troubling the driver. I am your driver. Sadguru will protect your body and drive your body for some time. There afterwards you have to feel it in the heart and drive your chariot by yourself."

PUJYA SRI SWAMIJI'S SPEECH At Church of Ascension, Wembley, On 24th April 2002

"Go slowly. Patience. Then you will understand. You will get initiated…… How many days? How many years? You will get to it. Because we are Karma jeevis, you must experience all the samsara. You must experience. You must give respect to your responsibility, your children and your family. That’s a duty to attend; your karma duty. Don't escape. Side by side, Sadguru will definitely give strength for your life."

Pujya Sri Swamiji, from 700 Sayings of Sachchidananda

"Share your happiness;
And share others' sorrow;
Be a child with children
And when among the sages,
Let your mind be alert
Sachchidananda, Lord of true bliss eternal."

Pujya Sri Swamiji, from Bhakti Mala, June 2009

"Contact with saints and Mahatmas takes you towards the doorsteps of God. Contact with the world and attachment to worldly possessions will only bind you to the world. Make the right choice right now!"

Sri Swamiji from Bhakti Mala, June 2009

"If you want to progress in the spiritual path, you have to set your mind high on the spiritual goals and pay least attention to the lower order of worldly matters. If you adore God, you will reflect Godliness. If you adore the world, you will only reflect worldliness."

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Navarathri's,Mysore Ashrama, 8-Oct-1997

Generally Saraswati is seated on rocks , Lakshmi stands in a Lotus and
Parashakti is depicted holding a sword. Saraswati is shown holding a
Veena and wearing a white saree. Her vehicle is Hamsa bird. Hamsa is
Ananda Brahma, Veena is our spinal cord and the White saree depicts
knowledge. But such beautiful Goddess is shown sitting on a rock. The
rock represents our head which is very hard to crack. She is sitting on
our heads. That is told though our speech is her music through Veena.
She is Shabda Brahma. She is the giver of knowledge. The knowledge she
gives flows from our Sahasrara downwards. The Blessing of Saraswati is
important. She is all the 24 principles and the 64 knowledge and 52
Beejaaksharas.

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Message on Guru Purnima, 16-Jul-2000

We should run towards spirituality. Spirituality will not come to you.
We have three types of qualities, Satva, Rajo and Tamo Gunas. If you
have Satva Guna, the Guru will come to you. If you have Rajo Guna you
have to go the Guru. The Tamo Guna people do not believe in God. The
Rajo Guna people should be careful. By controlling our emotions we have
to surrender to our Sadguru step by step and in a slow manner.

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Birthday message on June 12, 2000

You find that in some cities, impure water is recycled and made pure.
You know that the Sun is the cause of recycling of water in the nature.
Similarly, the Sadguru gives knowledge, removing ignorance of the
disciple.

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Navaratri's 6-Oct-1997

If one performs Yoga, the entire country will be blessed with good rain.
This is the specialty of Yoga. If you arrange Yoga through the Sadguru,
the entire world is benefited. You also will be specially blessed.
Sadguru acts as shock absorber. However, if you intend to progress
directly-without performing any rituals or without Sadguru's guidance,
you may have to suffer like NamaDeva. The great devotee NamaDeva used to
go to Vaikunta- abode of Vishnu and was accustomed to speak to the lord.
However, Vishnu advised NamaDeva to make proper approach through the
help of Sadguru. Just as the celestials stipulated step by step
procedure to spiritual progress, so also the Sadguru arranges various
practices to uplift you.

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Sivarathri, Mysore Ashrama,7-Mar-1997

Karma is like a house lock. Imagine a house lock. You put the key in the
lock and turn it clockwise, it opens. Turn it anti clockwise, it locks.
Likewise Karma acts both ways. It locks as well as unlocks i.e. it
imprisons you as well as frees you. Some say that karma always imprisons
you. That is wrong. If we do our Karma in a selfless manner, our
previous bad Karma gets erased. There can be no bargain. If you do half
selfishly and half selflessly, then it will not work

Sri Swamiji’s Discourse at DRC, 04/08/09

There lot of books Swamiji given. Lot of lectures. Your languages,
Telugu language, all kinds of languages. Why not you select a
CD or a DVD? Time to time, you attend for Swamiji’s classes,
Kriya Yoga classes. Do practice, Sadhana. Then you understand.

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Guru Purnima Celebrations, Dallas, TX, on 6th July 2009

"Krishna is the divine driver. Arjuna represents the individual bound by Karma. You may be a great swimmer but if something goes wrong in the sea what will you do. You must sit in the Sadguru boat. The first lesson with Sadguru is Patience. Don’t get irritated."

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Guru Purnima Celebrations, Dallas, TX, on 5th July 2009

"Remember Sadguru is your friend. You may not understand big terms like God or Savior, but you definitely understand what a good friend means – One who stands by you in your sorrow. It can be none other but your Sadguru. So, always try to be happy and smiling. It takes you closer to your Sadguru. Don’t be doubtful in your devotion."

Pujya Sri Swamiji’s Message at Kadiri at the time of Temple Inauguration, AP, India, 16-Nov-2008

Swamiji came running to see you all, impressed by your dedication and
devotion to this temple construction. You should also come to your
Sadguru like that. He understands your feelings. Your attachment to Guru
itself is the energy. Mother Goddess Lakshmi blesses us with happiness
and removes all the sorrows. Without hesitation or shyness, participate
in this Yagya in your own capacity. We waste money in many things like
share market. If you give it for this noble cause then Mother will give
much more to you in return. This contribution you make will be eternal.
You are lucky that you have joined your Sadguru in this work.

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Datta Jayanti Celebrations, Mysore Ashrama, 13-Dec- 1997

One who practices Nada upasana has no grief in life or death. He need
not go the hell having become sinless. By chanting Vedas, one will be
blessed by all celestials. By ardent singing of divine names, one gets
stability and peace of mind leading to the realization of the knowledge
of the supreme soul. By constant recitation of Veda and contemplation of
its significance, the vision of Datta will be finally fixed within the
secret of creation is reveled to oneself then.

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Chicago - July 24, 2002 - Guru Purnima day

"We perform Mothers Day, Fathers Day, etc., etc. On Guru Purnima, we perform Guru's Day. The other forms of Days are more and more Karma adding days. But on Guru Purnima day, our Karmas vanish. Karma adds up in other types of celebratory days. Because we get more attached to the worldly bondage and the Karma grows. We must surrender to Sadguru, and He gives good vibration, protection and Ananda."

Sri Swamiji’s Discourse at Dharmavaram, AP, India, on Nov 15, 2008

Devotion is very important, not the quantity you are offering. Rukmini
was able to prove her devotion with a Tulasi leaf, where as Satyabhama
could not win even with all her golden ornaments put together. Sometimes
a soulful prostration is all that is enough. Food that is offered
without love, Puja that is offered without devotion, Vratas that lack
Ekagrata (concentration) are not appreciated by the Lord. Whatever we
do, we should synchronize in thought, word and deed. Then only we will
get the fruits of our action.
.

Speech of Sri Swamiji after Sri Chakra Puja on 19th August 2000, Toronto, Canada

"Feel Swamiji's presence in your daily life. Feeling is more important than acts. Putting a photo of Swamiji in the frond dash and driving has no meaning if you think bad and sin. Keeping a photo in front and a girl friend in the back will not help. Swamiji should be in your breath. Breath is the Brahma, the Prana. When we involve Swamiji so deeply in your life, then you will not allow bad things to be done by you. You will not permit your body or mind to commit a sin."

Discourse of Pujya Sri Swamiji, Navarathri's at Hyderabad, 29-Sep-2008

Human body is one small town and a walking town ship or it is like a
space ship. Human body is like a walking city, a moving city in which
buddhi, atma and shareera are merged. Our body is very peculiar. The
secret of this body has not been discovered. This robot is yet to be
discovered.

Discourse of Pujya Sri Swamiji, Navarathriis at Hyderabad, 29-Sep-2008

When water with 32 moolikas is poured on spatika or saaligrama, there
will be change in vibrations due to which the quality of moolika
theertha will enhance medicinally. As a doctor Sri Swamiji instructs the
devotees as to how many times in what quantities the devotees have to
take. Sri Swamiji instructs devotees whether to take the theertham once
or twice or three times a day or Swamiji may instruct to take it after
exposing it to sunlight for one day. This is all medicine. It is
empowered with mantra

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Vienna, Aug 5, 1995

"Attachment and complete detachment. I am capable of attachment one minute and I am capable of detachment the next minute. I am capable of being king one minute and then one minute nothing. So, I know all the feelings, how to handle them and how to control them. I am not stuck to all the karmas. I make karma myself, I remove karma myself. I make sorrows and crying myself, and I make laughing. That is my duty. It is a sort of play. No feelings at all. No thoughts also."

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Chicago - July 25, 2002

"Book shop is your first Vedanta class. Do you know how much energy and effort Sri Swamiji put in to produce all those in the book shop? You are many times silly. You ask 'Swamiji give me Vedanta'. First read books, listen to music and purify yourself. Swamiji’s different poses say Vedanta. Study Swamiji’s picture. Each picture is an Upanishad. It depends on your affection and devotion to understand that inner meaning of that picture. A simple picture will tell Vedanta. The publishers of the photos are not foolish people. Many one-line slogans say a lot."

Pujya Sri Swamiji's, Bhakti Mala, Apr 2009

"Learn the art of treating pain and pleasures alike. Then all miseries will go away. Is it so easy? Yes, it is very easy. If you take to spiritual path, the singing of divine names or faith in Sadguru or involving yourself in spiritual activities, you will develop in you the right perspective, and you will be at peace with yourself."

Pujya Sri Swamiji's in a Q&A session

Sin is not transferable. Some people argue that certain disorders which
run in families are examples to demonstrate that the sin committed by
the ancestor has taken the form of a disease and has been running in his
lineage. It should be understood here that if an individual is born in
this family, it only means that this individual had committed such
karmas in his/her past lives so as to take birth in this family..

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Birthday celebrations at the Mysore Ashrama from May,25th to June,1st 1997

A good doctor will constantly study the condition of his patient and
will modify the treatment accordingly. It does not mean that he is
toying with his patient. The patient should display unflinching faith
even though he himself is a doctor. Similarly you may be practising
whatever you feel is right. But after you have found your Guru (or the
Guru has found you), you should follow implicitly what the Guru says.
The day on which this technique is taught is the real birthday. The day
you meet your Guru is the real birthday. Cutting a cake or singing
birthday songs does not make a birthday. Understand this hidden meaning
of birthday and celebrate !

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse on Energy

Different energies manifest at different times in the same person. It
means that different forms of knowledge are being transformed into
actions at those times. If we consider the different forms of knowledge
that manifest themselves at different times through different beings, we
can deduce that the entire creation runs as ordained by an infinite
source of knowledge.

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Birthday celebrations at the Mysore Ashrama, 1997

'Is there something called useless Mukti ?' one may ask. Yes. Ignorance
itself is the useless mukti. Even nectar is of two types. One is with
taste and the other is tasteless. The tasty ones cause disease. The
tasteless nectar bestows immortality. It should be borne in mind that
even venom can become amrita if your sankalpa is strong.

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Lessons in Vedanta

Fruits of action are of two types. 1. That which we experience in this
world (Iha loka phala) and 2. That which we experience in the other
world (Para loka phala or Amutra phala).
The fruits of action and the experiencing of those fruits in this world
are dependent on the effort we put in. If one works hard in the fields,
one gets good harvest. But the fruits of action, like the grains that
one grows, will be spent after some time. To replenish it, one will have
to work hard again.

Sri Swamiji’s Discourse Datta Retreat Center, PA, USA 8th April 2009

Sri Maha Ganapataye Namah Sri Saraswatyai Namah Sri Pada Vallabha Narasimha Saraswati Sri Guru Dattatreyaya Namah

Today… very surprise and unknowingly, Swamiji giving private visit, but anyway… Some people, our Datta devotees asking about Swamiji darshan, so I have given permission to yesterday. Very short break, short time: so many Datta devotees in the Rama Navami at Canada unable to attend this function. That is a very nice function: Rama Navami and Ramotsava and Canadian devotees got new place: 40 acres big. Later, very slowly, slowly developing area, Yoga Center and school. So many different plans we have. The beginning, the Guru Pooja beginning there was 1 famous shloka… Agastya Rekha… What is that? Chant once again! I know that; you chant! That is the Paduka prayer. I think you have a JaiGuruDatta group, then you understand what is the meaning of this shloka. So many Datta devotees doesn’t know about JaiGuruDatta group. Be members! Take membership. Very freely, there is always very nice conversations and nice discussion about all mantras, Swamiji’s talk, Swamiji’s program. There’s very interesting subject for each other talking, very nice education. Anyone knows about that, JaiGuruDatta group? Who? Members… You must take membership because you must understand for Swamiji’s programs, time- to- time, day- to- day programs. Very necessary to take membership, very nice education JaiGuruDatta group, and also please website, Dattapeetham website. Daily once you can check website, latest news, latest Swamiji’s sayings, latest humanity services. In India, we are tremendously we’re doing ritual and social activities. You must aware to Datta family. We are all Datta Family. That’s a Guru Charitra. We are all the times selfish people. We are talking interview and then going back; paying some money, doing namaskaram, taking for Swamiji’s blessings. We doesn’t want any spiritual things. We don’t want any social activities. We don’t want any human service. We don’t want any spiritual lectures about Swamiji. We want only, we look Swamiji, and we pay some money, and then we talk for problems, finish! Like a mantravadi. In India, so many Black Magic people doing like that. Business Gurus, there lot of Business Gurus. If you go TV, then so many advertisements. Palmistry, horoscope, so many different kind of numerologies. So many different kind of Gurus. They called Gurus. Okay, doesn’t matter, no complaint, but such a opinion that bad treatment, bad title some people gives Swamiji also. It’s not good. I don’t like; I don’t want that categories group. My mission is different, my ambition is different, my avatara is different. So you must train yourself, take something good, all you people something you missing, some very, very reality, real you are missing. Of course, we have problems: children problem, money problem, many problem, health problem. Okay, I agree, but don’t treat Swamiji also one mantravadi like a TV advertisement horoscopes one kind of a … So, business Gurus is not good, kind of your treatment. Some people not all people. Only 5% people, rest of 90% people: they have no time to see Dattapeetham, they have no time to see JaiGuruDatta Group, they have no time to listen for Swamiji’s bhajans, they have no time to listen mantra, Kavachas. They have a lot of recording, lot of mantras, lot of advice Swamiji giving records. If you go to bath, then you can put CD, the CD is playing. Eating some breakfast also, you can mantra, you can listen mantra. There is two things happening. While driving car also you can put Swamiji’s Kavachams and new Bhajans. There is two ways for your activities and Swamiji’s bhajans also you can listen. Then you understand more and more about Swamiji. You must use… Very, very, very senior devotees don’t know about Datta Peetham. Very, very senior devotees doesn’t know about Bhaktimala. Very, very senior devotees doesn’t know about Swamiji Life History. It’s not good. Even some, some people doesn’t know about address also in Mysore Ashrama. “Where is your Swamiji’s Ashram?” They looking card, “Okay, we’ll see.” telephone, you must practice Sadguru’s friendship in your breath. That’s important for, in our life. Your breath is always inhale and exhalation. It’s going; like this, you can mix with Swamiji’s mantra also in your breath automatically understand about, what is this Swamiji doing? Why Swamiji coming the Canada? Why Swamiji traveling too much? He didn’t care health… What purpose? Think about yourself. Not necessary propaganda. Don’t give any advertisement. You can teach yourself; you can look yourself. Think about: Why I am attached to Swamiji? What purpose? You have so many problems; doesn’t matter, keep it aside, all problems, health problems, money problems, quarrel problems, some confusion problems, job problems. You can take out; put it aside. Why I am attached with Swamiji? What purpose in my birth? What is the my life? Think about… only five minutes enough. There is 24 hours; think about only five minutes. Give me only five minutes, that’s all. That five minutes, you get good knowledge- good understanding. Then you understand what Swamiji’s connection within your soul in your body, in Indriyas, in your mind attached with family, so you’re mixing with problems- Swamiji; Money- Swamiji; Health- Swamiji; I agree, but side- by- side, you can go education. Adhyatmika. So you are looking other Gurus. You are going to Bhagavadgita classes. You’re going to another Guru GIta classes. It’s not good; you are looking another yoga class. Why not Swamiji all- in- one? Everything Swamiji. That angle you didn’t want to see, you are only seeing that angle only problem Guru. My problem- solver Guru, my pains- solver Guru. Like here, after this, your problem, your money settled out, Then, you’re going to spiritual activities another Guru, another books, another TV. It’s not good. I don’t like. You won’t achieve anything if you go that way. You are committing a lot of sin. You are sinners! The meaning is that you are cheating. You have no good understanding, Sadguru and you. If you have any pains, Swamiji help, but if you have spiritual way, then you are looking other Guru, another yoga, another Bhagavad-Gita classes, another Swamiji lectures. I am not complaint. Okay! Go ahead, take for good things in all Gurus, but what about your Guru? With butter in our hands, you are going to far off places. There is nobody else in the world who is as foolish as you are. Foolish devotees. Why such a statement Swamiji giving today DRC? Because so many people sitting here have seen two, three people here. They fully, they want Swamiji help, then, if you comes spiritual way, then they looking for fashion to Bhagavad-Gita classes. What about your Swamiji? The lot of books Swamiji given. Lot of lectures. Your languages, Telugu language, ALL Kinds of languages. Why not you can select for all CD’s , DVD’s. Time to time, you attend for Swamiji’s classes, Kriya Yoga classes. Do practice, Sadhana. Then you understand. What do you have somewhere else that you don’t have here? (You) tell. You have turned fashionful. You are committing a very big mistake by being that. So much… that is not a mistake; one can say that is a sin! I will not say it is a mistake. Like a sin. You are doing a sin. If we can’t figure out the thing that is with us and in us, what can we find about something that is somewhere else? It is ours! Swamiji’s all- in- one! Everything Swamiji. You are losing, you are missing something because you are looking different angle Swamiji. different Questions and Answers only- different interviews only. Different problems only. When you settle down you mind, then you are looking for another Guru. I am not telling any complaint, okay? You are, you are always still my family okay, but you’re mind is like this. Where is: I want to learn some yoga. I want to learn some Bhagavad-Gita. I want to learn some Bhagavatam? What about your Guru? Unable to give lectures to Bhagavatam? Bhagavad-Gita? Swamiji? Does he not know how to do anything? Can he not do it? What does he not know? Did we put him there just to answer our questions and take away our sorrow? Is that how we kept him? No, we did not keep him for us like that. All we ask Swamiji are our pains, sorrow, problems, job, money, confusions, is that all? Does he not know how to do anything else? Only that one thing? To say mantras and to hang yantras? One problem- one Puja; another problem, another Puja; another problem- another one; for one thing, one homa, one thing, one puja? Is that the reason you kept (me) close to you? So that you don’t go anywhere Swamiji even has Karma Yoga. Why Swamiji all- in- one? we don’t want lose if you have one time, one approach. It will serve both sides: one is spiritual activities, one is your problems also. That is why Swamiji doing Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Gnana Yoga. If you go and ask India, then you understand. If you turn any TV, then every morning Swamiji giving for with, small, small, small Shlokas, small stories. Thousands, millions people is looking for Swamiji’s any language. If you go Tamil language, go Kannada language if you’re Telugu language, if you go Hindi language. Now I am planning now, website also after Navaratri, daily I am giving one Shloka and one English meaning. I’m struggling for, I am learning for English in sake of you. Only for you, I am learning English. For you, I am learning something that won’t be of use (to me). so that you won’t go away, I’ve arranged everything into a single, big mall. It’s a big mall. Everything is only one mall. Time will not be wasted. Money- spending will also be decreased a little bit if in one place. If I’m creating this, you are taking some tiny bit and going to some other place. If its not your Karma, What can I do? Tell (me), am I uttering a lie? Tell, anybody tell. If its not your karma, how shall I do… you karma burnt, that’s all. What is not with my Swamiji? Show me. Okay? Since this is not there, we are going there. You do not have that sense, that all, but everything is there with him. You don’t have the sense. You don’t have the package. Different packet, different things you can put in the package, very nice for reserve. You don’t have that. That’s the big problem. You have come deeply with the wrong logic. That has become instilled in the mind. Swamiji’s only Homa, only Karma, only blessings, only heals, gives suggestions, finish. If you go to another Guru, then he keep on only lectures only. Dhyanam, Lectures, Get out! No family attachment, no family worries. In our Sadguru, Datta family like looking our family worries also, giving for spiritual guidance and also he gives for knowledge also. You must use me, like a garbage. Use me and throw your all problems. We must not be foolish. That is what we are becoming. So that we must not become, Even when Swamiji came to DRC today is a very private visit. My Health is not also good. Very cold, because health means only cold. It comes only temporary. I don’t want to see anyone. Only take rest and then tomorrow long flight 19 hours to journey the Delhi and then morning, day after tomorrow morning, there is a big conference. Yoga Ramdev Baba. He is listening all the times Swamiji’s bhajans. He’s giving training to with bhajan and Swamiji’s healing music and yoga. So you want guidance. I have given 40 years guidance. Now, I was giving to with music. SO he likes very much music and the devotees also. There’re 6,000 devotees, yoga students in the concert and dhyana and after that two days Delhi program. Delhi New Guru Nilayam Inauguration. After that, I’m coming Mysore, one day I’m staying Mysore, then I’m going to big pilgrimage center: Dharmastala. In Karnataka it is a very big pilgrimage center. From there I’m going to another pilgrimage center: Udupi. Udupi Swami, Krishna’s Udupi. I think you knows about Udupi kshetra, Udipi pilgrimage you know. I’m giving another concert, Meditation concert. Then, I’m coming back. Then again I’m going to Jayalakshmipuram. We have starting big school and my birthplace also. We have a big school planning, for tribal peoples, so lot of work’s. so out of love I came. I bless you. Today Chaturdasi and also Ganapathy day. I’m very, very happy, so I bless you, you must follow what Swamiji says. You must follow little bit. Few minutes to spend with your computer. Spend with your JaiGuruDatta group, spend with your Itunes, spend with Itunes also very nice. New, New bhajans is coming. Download and then the company also keep on work for Swamiji’s mission. So support DRC center. We have a big prayer hall, but sometimes in the winter season, we have not used. Winter season… not winter season, some winter seasons. Summers also very cold. Do something for heating purpose. You have to do something: to plan to close all the sides, the windows, put heating to do that plan. Swamiji coming more and more, again and again. Otherwise, it’s very small hall here. If you have in India, I will only do couple of hours, but this is America, what can I do? You should know and do it. Take some funds and keep them aside. Little, little everyone contribute and prepare the heating. It has been like that for three years. I thought you would do it, but you don’t, you donn’t get that discernment. Even that, I have to tell you. SO that whenever Swamiji comes, if it is temporarily on, it will be heating itself. Sometimes only, don’t need to do it all the times. Then, little, little when sometimes (I) come there can be programs there for 2 days, 3 days We can keep Swamiji there. DO something, everyone together may contribute. Do plan and do contribution for heating. Next, do it, it’s not a big thing. It’s not millions and millions (of dollars). Twenty or thirty thousand, then it will be one unit. Everyone work together and do it. If you do it, it’s very good. For you only, it’s good. You can get visit from Swamiji for four or five more trips. It will be beneficial for everybody. Not only for us, it will be good for everyone. There’s a problem now; jobs are being lost. Everyone has problems, not that there aren’t. This is also one problem. This is one of our problems. Okay, no problem! It’s also one problem. This we must do also, right?

Sri Swamiji speech on Narasimha Jayanthi 6-5-09 at Mysore Ashrama

“I remember a story of Narasimha from my childhood.

One of Sri Swamiji's paternal grandfathers was a great worshipper of Narasimha (Upasaka). The Narasimha Jayanti was grandly celebrated by them. It was a nine day festival. I remember the festivities. I was a very small boy. My elder step brother used to carry me around.

Once just before the festival the main Puja box with the idols was stolen. The ancestor roamed the town crazily looking for the Puja box and begging for its return.

He went from village to village asking for information on it. In one such village, because of the summer heat, he sat in a house and asked for water and dozed off, exhaustion wearing him down. In the sleep he had a vision of Lord Narasimha informing that the idols were kept on a wooden beam couple of houses away from where he slept. He woke up in a daze. He went to that house. He slipped and fell in front of the house. The family of the house took him inside and gave him food and bed for the night. Worried about the missing Puja box, he sang himself to sleep. In the middle of the night, the wooden beam broke open and the idols fell to the floor with loud noise. Of the idols found that night, Sri Swamiji still carries the Narasimha Saligrama and the Lakshmi Narasimha Idol. I remembered the story during Puja and decided to share the story with you all. The idols will be kept close to the Darshana queue. Come close and have a look at them".

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, 6th Global Gita Conference, New York, Aug 2nd 2008

The word *BHAGAVAD GITA *in Sanskrit has five letters BHA, GA, VA,
DGI,and TA*.

These five syllables represent five elements. BHA represents Earth
element, GA represents Water element, VA represents Fire element, DGI
represents Air element and TA represents Ether element. Similarly there
are five important entities starting with the Sanskrit letter GA -
*GANGA, GITA, GOMATA(Cow),
GURU *and* GOVINDA*- worshiping each of these five gives different
merits to man.

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Navarathris, Hyderabad, Sept 28th, 2008

To be comfortable psychologically and to acquire more energy we have to
increase our upasana strength. To increase that we have to increase
penance. What is Penance? Reaching Sadguru itself is one yatra tapas.
Listening to Satguru’s discourse is another tapas. Listening to
spiritual thoughts is also a penance. We have to add more spirituality
to our buddhi then all ill feelings, mental disturbances will be
removed.

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Dharmavaram, Nov 15th, 2008

Many people try to push themselves to the physical vicinity of Swamiji
and prostrate, but Swamiji never looks at them. Swamiji is always
looking at the person who is sitting at a distance and praying. We must
all inculcate this type of discipline, because it will save a lot of
time. Within the time constraint of 10 minutes one will get Darshana
(divine vision), Sparshana (divine touch) and Sambhashanam (divine
discourse) if we follow the discipline.

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Ananthapur, India, Nov 18th, 2008

Guru Seva (service to guru) means, not just performing Pujas, Bhajans,
serving food and then making comments as you wish. Real Guru Seva means
considering this idol of Dattatreya as manifesting the energy of my
Sadguru, feeling the energy of Sadguru is that form, and contemplating
on the preaching of Sadguru, and putting them into practice in our daily
lives in every act that we do, participating whole heartedly in all the
activities of the Ashrama involving ourselves, and work to uplift the
Kshetram (sacred place consecrated by Sadguru).

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Devi Navarathris, Mysore Ashrama, Oct 11th, 1997

The six innner enemies Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Mada, Matsarya
(desire, anger, greed, enchantment, pride, jealousy ) are the unseen
demons pestering the people. The festival of Vijayadasami is meant to
celebrate our success over these enemies-caused by the kindness of
Parasakthi

Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Grapevine Convention Center – Dallas, Texas, USA 24 July 2003 – 8 PM

"You have seen Sugar? There are hundreds and thousands of sweets made with sugar as base. It is only sugar that makes it sweet. We eat them as though they all are different. The original substance is Sugar. It is the same. So many cows but milk is the same. In the same manner, Swamiji's activities have the same underlying principle. Same thread which holds all these activities. It is to develop CHITTA SHUDDHI (cleansing of mind). It is the core of Swamiji's very existence."

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Birthday message on June 12, 2000

"Every day is a birthday. Hence one must thank God every morning for giving a chance to live one more day. Have firm belief in me. Then only I will protect you. Don’t be mere visitors like passengers in the train. Become members of Datta family."

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Oct 7, 1997, Mysore Ashrama

"Though Vishnu is omnipotent, he works in a systematic way. Can't He kill Ravana in a moment? Why should Vishnu incarnate as Rama and use such a long series of events in His life? Killing Ravana is only a pretext. The purpose of the incarnation is to fulfill the promises given earlier to some pious souls and also to uplift countless sincere good people. Hence he conducted such a long chain of events in his incarnation as Rama."

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Mysore Ashrama, October 7, 97

"God has created us as automotive machines. He gave us all sense powers and ordered us to go ahead. Don't we know that scientists have developed satellites controlled by machines operated on earth? Similarly, we are all created as computers with "individual power to act". God stands as an observer. Hence we are squarely answerable for our deeds and we alone should face the result of our good and bad deeds."

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Mysore Ashrama, Datta Jananti 1996

We take part in all kinds of rituals and worship of the Lord to get rid
of the effect of karma. But Lord Datta must help us. He is the only road
to salvation (Mukti Patha). Dasharatha had not aspired to one day become
the parent of Rama. He did perform acts of merit which permitted him to
enjoy heavenly bliss. But in order to fully achieve merit you must have
the grace of Sadguru Dattathreya.

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Message on Maha Shivarathri March 7th, 1997

Many try to escape from their Karma. It is impossible. The fruit of
Karma has to be experienced. Any Karma that has been done knowingly has
to be experienced in a knowing manner.

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse,Birthday celebrations at the Mysore Ashrama, 1997

You have all gathered here to witness my birthday. But I do not have a
birth day at all ! The day 'I' made a samkalpa itself is my birth day.
In other words, my birthday is the day on which the universe was
created. It is something which is beyond evidence. It has no date. Like
creation, Pralaya too doesn't have a date.

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, 15th August 1997 during Indian Flag Hoisting ceremony

Freedom does not mean living as you like and causing trouble to others.
That is Rakshasatva. Freedom means sacrifice + liberty + Karma Yoga
(good actions). If you perform Karma Yoga, the freedom is meaningful.
Karma Yoga mixed with truth glorifies the freedom. When this is mixed
with sacrifice, it is the ultimate freedom.

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, During Navaratrhi's Mysore Ashrama, Oct 6th 1997

One should face the result of past deeds oneself. That is why Sri
Swamiji is arranging theses festivals with fire worship, Pujas etc. for
you to participate. This is spiritual practice. Swamiji will bless you
with boons for your Sadhana.

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Devi Navarathris, Mysore Ashrama, Oct 7th, 1997

The movements of the satellite and its proper condition is always under
the vigilance and control of the scientists on the ground. So also God
makes us conduct ourselves and eventually enables us to reach Him at the
proper time. Hence we should not entertain silly doubts about the divine
play of God.

Guru Purnima Speech by Sri Swamiji - 13 July 2003 Jain Temple, San Jose, CA, USA

"Guru is like Atman. He is in you. He is in your inner self. It is very difficult to find a Guru these days. Male Gurus, female Gurus,..... they are all pervasive these days. They are in all denominations, decorations, bearded ones, shaved ones; it is very difficult to find a Guru. Because people want it so much, the Gurus too are confused. These days, we keep on changing jobs, houses, cars, wives, husbands; it is common to change Gurus also. It is not good."

The Visit of His Holiness Sri Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji to Dattatreya Yoga Centre, Carapichaima, Trinidad, from 25th to 29 the April, 2002

"Don’t mix dreams and reality. Some people get illusions and talk nonsense. That’s not good. I do not want such losers. Say, 'thanks for the drama, Swamiji'. What to do with your life? I will give you advice. Use me. Talk to me. Bother me. Quarrel with me. Your illusions are not good. I will give good answers and good guidance."

Sri Swamiji's Discourse at Datta Retreat Center (DRC), Pittsburgh, PA, 04/08/09

"My mission is different, my ambition is different, my avatara is different. You must train yourself; take something good from Swamiji. All of you people, something you are missing; something very very real, you are missing. Of course, we have problems -- children problems, money problems, health problems, many problems. Okay, I agree, but don't treat Swamiji as one mantravadi, like a TV advertisement horoscopes kind of Guru. Business Guru is not good."

Discourse of Pujya Sri Swamiji at Navarathris, Hyderabad, 28 September 2008

"Under no circumstances we should abuse God and Dharma. We have to discharge our duty till the last breath. That is our Dharma. If God troubles us, it is our duty to untie the knot. If we have two gold chains in our neck, they frequently get entangled. We untie the knots of the chains very patiently because we want the gold chains. We do not throw them just because they are entangled. If there is a knot in our hair we untie the knot carefully but we don't cut the hair."

Pujya Sri Swamiji from Seven Hundred Sayings of Sachchidananda

"Are you attached to the world, to Samsara
Or is the world, Samsara attached to you?
It is like hugging a pillar fondly
And crying out, 'free me, please, free me'!
Sachchidananda, Lord of true bliss eternal!"

Sri Swamiji, from Sri Swamiji in Austria

"Swamiji is sometimes like a wall. If you hit the wall, the wall stays where it is, or it is going back. It is not coming. So, be careful. Be careful. Do Guru Seva (service) and try to understand. Slowly, you can develop a relationship with your Guru. You must have a strong faith, then you will get His blessings. Also, if you want too much at a time, you will get fed up with Swamiji one day. Then you don't want Swamiji anymore."

Sri Swamiji speaks on arrival day Grapevine Convention Center – Dallas, Texas, USA 24 July 2003

"Guru is needed for Spiritual upliftment. Otherwise how can you achieve Bliss or Ananda? Guru Parampara is sacred. It is difficult to explain about Guru. In Guru Geeta Parvati asks Lord Shiva to explain about Guru. The teaching of Shiva to Parvati is GURU GEETA. It is also ATMA TATTVA GEETA. It is a very important teaching. It is a human discipline penance. It is Saadhana Yoga. It is Atma Vidya. Guru creates doubts in our mind. Guru is trinity form. He creates doubts. He keeps the doubts in you and he also kills the doubt. Teach your children the Guru Mantra of GURU BRAHMA GURU VISHNU..... Of course, normal education is needed but ensure your children learn the traditions. Guru, Puja, Temple, Gods, Language, etc."

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Feb 14, 1999 - Maha Shivaratri

"Don’t misuse this human body. It is full of energy. Every part of the human body is precious. All the celestials, all the oceans, all the rivers and all the spiritual energy exist in the body. The entire philosophy is in the body. Each part of the body is spiritual. If you misuse the body, you will be disappointed. Let not desire and anger misdirect you to waste the life time."

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Chicago - July 26, 2002

"One has to suffer one’s Karma. It should not be a business devotion. Guru can give moral support. You have to walk alone in your path. You have to live to your Karma. It is your sole responsibility. Our good and bad in life is due to our Karma. We have to enjoy or suffer for it. Then why follow a Guru? To develop a good way of life so that the Karma dissolves and you have a better life next time."

Sri Swamiji’s Discourse at Datta Retreat Center (DRC), Pittsburgh, PA, 04/08/09

"My mission is different, my ambition is different, my avatara is different. You must train yourself; take something good from Swamiji. Bhaktimala Nov 1980 Swamiji states

Partaking teertham from the holy hands of the Sadguru
is equivalent of bathing in all the holy rivers of
this entire universe.

Prasadam received from the hands of Sadguru destroys
sins. When I am eating, all my thoughts are focussed
on that all powerful Paramatma. The energy from such
japa enters into the food, the water as well as the
air surrounding that place. In turn this results in
the purification of the brain (medadu).

Pujya Sri Swamiji from Seven Hundred Sayings of Sachchidananda

"Why do you keep requesting God,
'I want this', 'I want that'? Fool,
He who protects all that is living,
Doesn't He know what you need and
How much of it you need? He knows it,
Sachchidananda, Lord of true bliss eternal!"

Pujya Sri Swamiji from Bhakti Mala, Feb 2007

"We need God. There can be no two thought about it. But, why do we need Guru between us and God? This question haunts many theists. By taking refuge in Sadguru, ego will be destroyed. That is for sure. When ego is destroyed, God will be pleased with you."

Pujya Sri Swamiji, from Bhaktimala Dec 2008

"If you are in harmony within yourself, the entire outside world will also be in harmony. If you see conflicts outside, it is your inner conflict, which on projection sees conflicts outside. In the grand scheme of Mother Nature, there is a beautiful arrangement for everything. Nature has not caused any conflicts anywhere. It is the human mind which creates and sees conflicts. The more you see conflict or talk about it, the more power you are giving to it."

Pujya Sri Swamiji, from Bhakti Mala, Nov 2008

"All ways and paths are equally important and effective as they lead to the same goal, i.e., merging of the ego (the notion of I-ness) in the Supreme Self. Good, better or best are only relative terms. For each person, that path is the best which appears easiest and appeals the most."

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

Sri Swamiji, from Bhakti Mala Aug 2008

"Among the four paths, namely, Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Karma Yoga and Prapatti Yoga, shown by the Geetachaarya as tools for self-realization and release from the worldly bondage, Prapatti or Sharanaagati -- the Yoga of surrender -- is the most suited for the present day man."

Sri Swamiji, from Bhakti Mala, Aug 2008

"The path of surrender does not require an extremely sharp intellect which is needed for pursuing the path of knowledge (Jnana Yoga). It also does not require the supreme love for God which is the essence of the path of devotion (Bhakti Yoga). It also does not involve any action to be converted into Yoga of action (Karma Yoga) as propounded by the scriptures. Yet, the path of surrender (Prapatti Yoga) possesses the main characteristics of all the three."

Sri Swamiji, from God Word III

"A real devotee of God will never be upset by grief, or elated by happiness. Whatever maybe the nature of events, favorable or unfavorable, he knows it is all God's will and he simply submits himself to God, keeping God always in his mind. People should have complete faith in God. They should KNOW, God, Sadguru, does only good for them."

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Germany, 24 November 2001

"Teaching will come to you from all corners. Experience Sri Swamiji and His compassion, and remember that you have no right to say about other's experiences unless you experience yourself something concrete and that is up to your Karma. This book (Sri Swamiji shows himself) is deep and has many pages. Do not be in confusion. Do not be in conflict. It is time to set your destiny in true contemplation and experience."

Pujya Sri Swamiji, from Seven Hundred Sayings of Sachchidananda

"These are not the days for honest men;
For liars, these are the days of harvest season;
Through thick and thin, trust the Lord;
He will never ever let us down;
Sachchidananda, true bliss eternal!"

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Germany, 24 November 2001

"So many Gurus say a mantra is important. But they interpret in their own way according to their tendencies. What is required is Chitta Shuddhi (purification of the self) of its external impurities (veils). At some level we are all trying to purify ourselves by what you saw and did just now, such as Pada Puja, Karma, children education, homes etc., All kinds of services including social service is part of good Karma and following the instructions of a Sadguru is also a good karma. You might interpret my messages differently depending on the occasion. There are so many ways to reach the path of self. But the final goal and the final good comes when you have achieved Chitta Shuddhi (purity of intellect)."

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse, Mysore Ashrama, Sept 13, 2000

"Equanimity is very important. Don't hate fate"

Sri Swamiji’s Message at Navaratri Celebrations, Mysore Ashrama, 1998

"Artificial rain we can make;
Artificial trees we can grow;
But that the world itself is Maya (artificial);
We forget, and with pride!
Sachchidananda, Lord of true bliss eternal."

Sri Swamiji from Silent Teacher

"You are reading one book, the mind goes there, then another book and the mind goes there also, and again another book, the mind goes to that book, ...so your energy is wasted. You medidate on Brahman; meditate and serve humanity, or serve yourself and inquire, 'Who am I, who am I?'. You pray to Swamiji, 'Swamiji, I want your kind of happiness'. "

Pujya Sri Swamiji’s Discourse at Hindu Temple, Augusta, Georgia, USA on April 8, 1990

"Most people do penance and prayers, either in a demanding way or in a complaining fashion; demanding God to bestow health, wealth, status, etc., and complaining that God did not give anything. Ideal prayer consists of begging God to grant desirelessness. Simple, sensible thinking proves that it is impossible to extinguish the fire of desires. It is funny that man desires so many things that even if somehow they were all granted to him, the life span would be less than the time required for fulfilling those desires."

Sri Swamiji’s Message at Navaratri Celebrations, Mysore Ashrama, 1998

"Whatever you do, may it be Puja, Yoga, Yaga, Dana (donation) or Dhyana, or any other work, do not do it with a mere physical attitude, as a mere physical exercise. Transcend the sense perceptions. Broaden your vision. Elevate your attitude. Then you will improve."

Sri Swamiji from Silent Teacher

"You think about Swamiji; don't think about these worldly questions. If you think about them, Swamiji gives only answers, but He is not giving happiness. But, happily you are saying, 'Oh, I got the answer!'. What kind of answer? The next day, again you have questions. Whoever gets answers will ALWAYS have questions. Swamiji does not want to give answers to these questions. He respects these questions, He respects these ideas, but He does not want to feed, because if once you are fed, again and again you ask for it. Questions to some extent are ok, but don't go deeply."

Sri Swamiji on 11-4-2009 at Patanjali Yoga Peeth Haridwar

Sri Ganeshaya namah,
Sri Saraswatyei namah,
Sri Padavallabha,
Narasimha Saraswati,
Sri Guru Dattatreyaya namaha.
Today is an auspicious day, Swati Nakshatra, Dwitiya (second day of the lunar calendar), a beautiful union of Nada and Yoga. Yoga relates to the Shatchakras (six primordial metaphysical energy centres located along the spine of the human body – Mooladhara, Swadhishtana, Manipooraka, Anahata, Vishuddha, Ajna) which represent the transcendence of the human from the physical to the divine plane, which are the seats of energy of all physical and metaphysical actions. Nada represents the pranic force in the body that is responsible for all the subtle and gross actions in the body. This is a union of these forces. This music is not entertainment music. They are specially engineered sounds for producing healing and balancing effects on the body, mind and intellect- Yoga Sangeeta. This is the ancient Raga Ragini Vidya, time tested even from the Kruta, Treta and Dwapara eras. It is the musical energy that stabilizes the Nadimandala (plexus of nerves in the human body). Swamiji came running all the way from Chicago in a single non stop flight to perform in this Yogbhumi because of the love extended by this Peetham to Swamiji. Swamiji is immensely pleased seeing this temple of Yoga and the practice of Yoga here. Yoga and Nada are like father and mother, like Shiva and Parvati. This concert is like union of Shiva and Parvati. This union of Yoga and Nada guarantees physical and mental well-being. It stabilizes the vibrations related to the Chakras. It enables the flow of nectarine bliss. Each Raga has a different effect on the Chakras. It is advisable to listen to such music during practice of Yoga and meditation. You will certainly have great experiences. Today’s concert concentrates on the Ragas related to the five elements (Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Ether). We are all fortunate indeed for we have the opportunity to listen to such divine music in this august place of Yoga.

MAHA SHIVARATHRI MESSAGE OF PUJYA SRI SWAMIJI, FOLLOWING THE AGNI PUJA ON THE MORNING OF 7. MARCH 1997

"Thus we alone have to reap the fruits of our actions. How to counter our Karma? Through another Karma. Karma alone can remove Karma. Like removing a thorn with another thorn. We cannot remove a thorn stuck in our foot with a lump of butter. If a thorn is stuck in our heart, it pains. Since the pain is unbearable, it has to be removed. So, we have to bear the extra pain of another thorn being pierced to remove the first thorn."

Sri Swamiji’s Discourse at DRC, 04/08/09

"So many Datta devotees don’t know about JaiGuruDatta yahoogroup. Be members! Take membership; it is only free. There are always very nice conversations and nice discussions about all mantras, Swamiji’s talks, Swamiji’s programs, etc. This is a very interesting forum for each other for talking, discussing......very nice education. You must take membership because you must understand Swamiji’s programs, .....day-to-day schedules, details, etc. Very necessary to take membership, and it is good education."

Pujya Sri Swamiji from Sadguru Sookti Sangraha

"The world is like a rose plant. There are both flowers and thorns in the rose plant. Likewise, joys and sorrows are intertwined in the worldly life (Samsaara). We should not fill our mind with overwhelming joy thinking that the pleasures of the world are permanent. We should always think about the Supreme Reality. As man carefully separates the flowers from the rose plant without getting scratched by the thorns, so also the Guru removes the hardships and obstacles of a devotee, helping him to move towards God."

Sri Swamiji from Seven Hundred Sayings of Sachchidananda

"We leave behind our home and household goods;
Our kith and kin walk up to the cremation ground;
What keeps you company till the end are your deeds;
Good and evil -
Sachchidananda, Lord of true bliss eternal!"

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse at Datta Retreat Center, West Sunbury, PA, USA, Apr 2009

" 'What is this Swamiji doing, why Swamiji is coming to Canada, why Swamiji traveling too much, He doesn’t care for His health, what purpose.....', do not think about all this. Think about yourself. No need for propaganda. Don’t give any advertisement. You can teach yourself. Look at yourself. Think about, 'Why I am attached to Swamiji? What is the purpose?'. You have so many problems; doesn’t matter, keep them aside, all problems, health problems, money problems, quarrel problems, some confusion problems, job problems. You can take out and put them aside. Why I am attached with Swamiji? What purpose in my birth? What is the my life? Think about this. Only five minutes is enough. There are 24 hours; think about only five minutes. Give me only five minutes, that’s all. That five minutes, you get good knowledge, good understanding. Then you will understand what Swamiji’s connection is."

Sri Swamiji from Vijaya Sankha

"Perform only those actions that give you peace of mind. When deviation from equanimity (Chalanam) happens, or unrest, confusion (Vikaaram) sets in, practice silence."

ujya Sri Swamiji, from Sadguru Sookti Sangraha

"Saints, through their knowledge of spiritual wisdom, remove the difficulties pertaining to the soul. They also root out the sins committed by the body, speech and the mind, and make all beings around them pure and blissful. Therefore, to come into their contact and serve them. is A GREAT MERIT and A GREAT BLESSING."

Pujya Sri Swamiji from Jnaana Saagar

"Some people consider women as slaves at home. We hear about eve-teasing and victimization of women often. Let us all correct this practice. Then only, in every house righteousness, truth and perfect practice of yoga will flourish and we all will be able to achieve everything auspicious. The Manu Smruti underscores the importance of this. Let us respect women and attain everything good and benevolent."

Pujya Sri Swamiji's speech on 26th March, 2009 during the Inaugural Session of 3rd Gna Na Bha Yoga Conference in Hyderabad

"Till now Swami Chidatmananda has spoken on Gnana referring to Kshetra - Kshetragna Vibhaga Yoga in Bhagavat Gita. It is like Dattatreya sprinkling hand full of water from Amrutha Samudra - the ocean of nectar. Swami Chidatmananda sprinkled drops of nectar from the Gita Samudra ( Bhagavat Gita).
The depth of Gnana cannot be narrated. It is very vast. These kind of Gnana sessions were happenning in DattaPeetham from past many decades. We now streamlined a process and gave a title to it called "Gna Na Bha Yoga Sammelan". This session started on this last day of Sarvadhari year and is continuing in Virodhi year So today we are celebrating two occassions. One is the sendoff for Sarvadhari and the other is the welcome for Virodhi. It is like a farewell party in a college. We must have had many experiences in this year. We need to recollect all these and learn a lesson out of it. You can welcome a year for 364 days but farewell happens only one day. We are sending off this year with Gnana. Gnana will never fade away. This is a permanent lesson for all of you.
Many people are afraid by the term of Gnana. Gnana Marga (path) is very easy. Atma Gnana is very very easy and more over it is white in color and sweet.(Swamiji means it is clear and pleasant). Spiritual lessons are very easy so we need not worry about them. Music may be difficult but not Gnana. It is difficult to learn the swaras and the notes in music. But Gnana is simpler. There is no other education in this world which is easier than this. We have been listening to Katha Sagara in Gemini TV for many years and it is still continuing. This is the best example of how simple and easy Gnana is, else this program would not continue even after so many years. Swamiji has been explaining Atma Tatva in simple and short stories.Nothing can be simpler than this.
On this last day of Sarvadhari, I bless all of you with Good Health, Wealth of Gnana and Guru Seva. May the coming year bring prosperity to all of you... Jaya Guru Datta !"

Pujya Sri Swamiji from 'Sri Swamiji in Austria

"Swamiji's advice is: Don't be confused. If there is no confusion, then there is no depression. Everything is leela (play). Everything is grace. Everything that Swamiji is doing will help people. Don't ask all the time, 'Why is it like this?, Why does He do that?, etc.' I have no answer. I am silent, that's all."

Sri Swamiji from Silent Teacher

"You see with good eyes, you hear with good ears. Then, you also become good. 'Oh, I am beautiful, I am happy, my mind is good today, I am mentally balanced,....', why can you not think like this? Why are you always making negative thoughts? Do you understand my Engligh?"

Sri Swamiji, from God Word

"Among the obstacles to the attainment of knowledge leading to self-realization, the bundle of vaasanas (mental impressions) which we have carried forward from innumerable previous births and getting accumulated in this birth, occupies the foremost place. It is the vaasanas that constitute the essence of mind and the mind functions according to the nature of vaasanas."

Sri Swamiji, from Dharma Divine Diary

"He communicates in different ways! Maybe a vision, or vibration in thought, or a flash in the mind. Maybe in His own voice, or a mere glance, or in words through the voice of any person. Ultimately, what He desires must reach will reach."
