Sri Swamiji’s Message at Navaratri Celebrations, Mysore Ashrama, 1998

"Artificial rain we can make;
Artificial trees we can grow;
But that the world itself is Maya (artificial);
We forget, and with pride!
Sachchidananda, Lord of true bliss eternal."

Sri Swamiji from Silent Teacher

"You are reading one book, the mind goes there, then another book and the mind goes there also, and again another book, the mind goes to that book, ...so your energy is wasted. You medidate on Brahman; meditate and serve humanity, or serve yourself and inquire, 'Who am I, who am I?'. You pray to Swamiji, 'Swamiji, I want your kind of happiness'. "

Pujya Sri Swamiji’s Discourse at Hindu Temple, Augusta, Georgia, USA on April 8, 1990

"Most people do penance and prayers, either in a demanding way or in a complaining fashion; demanding God to bestow health, wealth, status, etc., and complaining that God did not give anything. Ideal prayer consists of begging God to grant desirelessness. Simple, sensible thinking proves that it is impossible to extinguish the fire of desires. It is funny that man desires so many things that even if somehow they were all granted to him, the life span would be less than the time required for fulfilling those desires."

Sri Swamiji’s Message at Navaratri Celebrations, Mysore Ashrama, 1998

"Whatever you do, may it be Puja, Yoga, Yaga, Dana (donation) or Dhyana, or any other work, do not do it with a mere physical attitude, as a mere physical exercise. Transcend the sense perceptions. Broaden your vision. Elevate your attitude. Then you will improve."

Sri Swamiji from Silent Teacher

"You think about Swamiji; don't think about these worldly questions. If you think about them, Swamiji gives only answers, but He is not giving happiness. But, happily you are saying, 'Oh, I got the answer!'. What kind of answer? The next day, again you have questions. Whoever gets answers will ALWAYS have questions. Swamiji does not want to give answers to these questions. He respects these questions, He respects these ideas, but He does not want to feed, because if once you are fed, again and again you ask for it. Questions to some extent are ok, but don't go deeply."

Sri Swamiji on 11-4-2009 at Patanjali Yoga Peeth Haridwar

Sri Ganeshaya namah,
Sri Saraswatyei namah,
Sri Padavallabha,
Narasimha Saraswati,
Sri Guru Dattatreyaya namaha.
Today is an auspicious day, Swati Nakshatra, Dwitiya (second day of the lunar calendar), a beautiful union of Nada and Yoga. Yoga relates to the Shatchakras (six primordial metaphysical energy centres located along the spine of the human body – Mooladhara, Swadhishtana, Manipooraka, Anahata, Vishuddha, Ajna) which represent the transcendence of the human from the physical to the divine plane, which are the seats of energy of all physical and metaphysical actions. Nada represents the pranic force in the body that is responsible for all the subtle and gross actions in the body. This is a union of these forces. This music is not entertainment music. They are specially engineered sounds for producing healing and balancing effects on the body, mind and intellect- Yoga Sangeeta. This is the ancient Raga Ragini Vidya, time tested even from the Kruta, Treta and Dwapara eras. It is the musical energy that stabilizes the Nadimandala (plexus of nerves in the human body). Swamiji came running all the way from Chicago in a single non stop flight to perform in this Yogbhumi because of the love extended by this Peetham to Swamiji. Swamiji is immensely pleased seeing this temple of Yoga and the practice of Yoga here. Yoga and Nada are like father and mother, like Shiva and Parvati. This concert is like union of Shiva and Parvati. This union of Yoga and Nada guarantees physical and mental well-being. It stabilizes the vibrations related to the Chakras. It enables the flow of nectarine bliss. Each Raga has a different effect on the Chakras. It is advisable to listen to such music during practice of Yoga and meditation. You will certainly have great experiences. Today’s concert concentrates on the Ragas related to the five elements (Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Ether). We are all fortunate indeed for we have the opportunity to listen to such divine music in this august place of Yoga.

MAHA SHIVARATHRI MESSAGE OF PUJYA SRI SWAMIJI, FOLLOWING THE AGNI PUJA ON THE MORNING OF 7. MARCH 1997

"Thus we alone have to reap the fruits of our actions. How to counter our Karma? Through another Karma. Karma alone can remove Karma. Like removing a thorn with another thorn. We cannot remove a thorn stuck in our foot with a lump of butter. If a thorn is stuck in our heart, it pains. Since the pain is unbearable, it has to be removed. So, we have to bear the extra pain of another thorn being pierced to remove the first thorn."

Sri Swamiji’s Discourse at DRC, 04/08/09

"So many Datta devotees don’t know about JaiGuruDatta yahoogroup. Be members! Take membership; it is only free. There are always very nice conversations and nice discussions about all mantras, Swamiji’s talks, Swamiji’s programs, etc. This is a very interesting forum for each other for talking, discussing......very nice education. You must take membership because you must understand Swamiji’s programs, .....day-to-day schedules, details, etc. Very necessary to take membership, and it is good education."

Pujya Sri Swamiji from Sadguru Sookti Sangraha

"The world is like a rose plant. There are both flowers and thorns in the rose plant. Likewise, joys and sorrows are intertwined in the worldly life (Samsaara). We should not fill our mind with overwhelming joy thinking that the pleasures of the world are permanent. We should always think about the Supreme Reality. As man carefully separates the flowers from the rose plant without getting scratched by the thorns, so also the Guru removes the hardships and obstacles of a devotee, helping him to move towards God."

Sri Swamiji from Seven Hundred Sayings of Sachchidananda

"We leave behind our home and household goods;
Our kith and kin walk up to the cremation ground;
What keeps you company till the end are your deeds;
Good and evil -
Sachchidananda, Lord of true bliss eternal!"

Pujya Sri Swamiji's Discourse at Datta Retreat Center, West Sunbury, PA, USA, Apr 2009

" 'What is this Swamiji doing, why Swamiji is coming to Canada, why Swamiji traveling too much, He doesn’t care for His health, what purpose.....', do not think about all this. Think about yourself. No need for propaganda. Don’t give any advertisement. You can teach yourself. Look at yourself. Think about, 'Why I am attached to Swamiji? What is the purpose?'. You have so many problems; doesn’t matter, keep them aside, all problems, health problems, money problems, quarrel problems, some confusion problems, job problems. You can take out and put them aside. Why I am attached with Swamiji? What purpose in my birth? What is the my life? Think about this. Only five minutes is enough. There are 24 hours; think about only five minutes. Give me only five minutes, that’s all. That five minutes, you get good knowledge, good understanding. Then you will understand what Swamiji’s connection is."

Sri Swamiji from Vijaya Sankha

"Perform only those actions that give you peace of mind. When deviation from equanimity (Chalanam) happens, or unrest, confusion (Vikaaram) sets in, practice silence."

ujya Sri Swamiji, from Sadguru Sookti Sangraha

"Saints, through their knowledge of spiritual wisdom, remove the difficulties pertaining to the soul. They also root out the sins committed by the body, speech and the mind, and make all beings around them pure and blissful. Therefore, to come into their contact and serve them. is A GREAT MERIT and A GREAT BLESSING."

Pujya Sri Swamiji from Jnaana Saagar

"Some people consider women as slaves at home. We hear about eve-teasing and victimization of women often. Let us all correct this practice. Then only, in every house righteousness, truth and perfect practice of yoga will flourish and we all will be able to achieve everything auspicious. The Manu Smruti underscores the importance of this. Let us respect women and attain everything good and benevolent."

Pujya Sri Swamiji's speech on 26th March, 2009 during the Inaugural Session of 3rd Gna Na Bha Yoga Conference in Hyderabad

"Till now Swami Chidatmananda has spoken on Gnana referring to Kshetra - Kshetragna Vibhaga Yoga in Bhagavat Gita. It is like Dattatreya sprinkling hand full of water from Amrutha Samudra - the ocean of nectar. Swami Chidatmananda sprinkled drops of nectar from the Gita Samudra ( Bhagavat Gita).
The depth of Gnana cannot be narrated. It is very vast. These kind of Gnana sessions were happenning in DattaPeetham from past many decades. We now streamlined a process and gave a title to it called "Gna Na Bha Yoga Sammelan". This session started on this last day of Sarvadhari year and is continuing in Virodhi year So today we are celebrating two occassions. One is the sendoff for Sarvadhari and the other is the welcome for Virodhi. It is like a farewell party in a college. We must have had many experiences in this year. We need to recollect all these and learn a lesson out of it. You can welcome a year for 364 days but farewell happens only one day. We are sending off this year with Gnana. Gnana will never fade away. This is a permanent lesson for all of you.
Many people are afraid by the term of Gnana. Gnana Marga (path) is very easy. Atma Gnana is very very easy and more over it is white in color and sweet.(Swamiji means it is clear and pleasant). Spiritual lessons are very easy so we need not worry about them. Music may be difficult but not Gnana. It is difficult to learn the swaras and the notes in music. But Gnana is simpler. There is no other education in this world which is easier than this. We have been listening to Katha Sagara in Gemini TV for many years and it is still continuing. This is the best example of how simple and easy Gnana is, else this program would not continue even after so many years. Swamiji has been explaining Atma Tatva in simple and short stories.Nothing can be simpler than this.
On this last day of Sarvadhari, I bless all of you with Good Health, Wealth of Gnana and Guru Seva. May the coming year bring prosperity to all of you... Jaya Guru Datta !"

Pujya Sri Swamiji from 'Sri Swamiji in Austria

"Swamiji's advice is: Don't be confused. If there is no confusion, then there is no depression. Everything is leela (play). Everything is grace. Everything that Swamiji is doing will help people. Don't ask all the time, 'Why is it like this?, Why does He do that?, etc.' I have no answer. I am silent, that's all."

Sri Swamiji from Silent Teacher

"You see with good eyes, you hear with good ears. Then, you also become good. 'Oh, I am beautiful, I am happy, my mind is good today, I am mentally balanced,....', why can you not think like this? Why are you always making negative thoughts? Do you understand my Engligh?"

Sri Swamiji, from God Word

"Among the obstacles to the attainment of knowledge leading to self-realization, the bundle of vaasanas (mental impressions) which we have carried forward from innumerable previous births and getting accumulated in this birth, occupies the foremost place. It is the vaasanas that constitute the essence of mind and the mind functions according to the nature of vaasanas."

Sri Swamiji, from Dharma Divine Diary

"He communicates in different ways! Maybe a vision, or vibration in thought, or a flash in the mind. Maybe in His own voice, or a mere glance, or in words through the voice of any person. Ultimately, what He desires must reach will reach."
